The FAI Story

The Boys in Green boast support that is the envy of the football community. After a lack of success in the noughties, the team and the organisation have been back to winning ways and are qualifying for major tournaments again. The challenge for the FAI is to capitalise on that success and get the fans back to the 52,000 seater Aviva Stadium for all qualifying and friendly matches.

Atomic Sport’s remit with the FAI was to develop a more consistent, more effective and more long-term approach to their match and fan marketing. Working across their season ticket campaign and the promotion of all home matches at the Aviva Stadium, we are constantly evolving the organisation’s approach to marketing, content and sales.

As with all projects we work on, planning is a key element of the service we provide the FAI. Taking a look at the season ahead and beyond, we identify the key areas of opportunity and plan to maximise those areas.

With any professional football team, player access is always a challenge as players have limited time with their national team, finding a way to work with the players within strict time frames to develop compelling content has been a central part of our approach to promoting the national team.

Season Ticket sales are a key driver for any team sports organisation, we’ve worked closely with the FAI in the last three years to deliver huge growth in the number of season ticket sales, by delivering multi-platform campaigns and content that engages fans most likely to benefit from a season ticket. Microsites, digital, social and podcasts – we’ve created plans and content to deliver the most impact to the country’s football fans.
